This document is as a strategic implementation guideline developed to support the integration of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) into Vanuatu's first National Adaptation Plan (NAP). Unlike a sector guideline focused solely on project delivery, this resource bridges the gap between climate adaptation planning and practical ecosystem-based action by providing a pathway for how NbS can be systematically embedded within national adaptation processes.
It was developed under the PPIN Project to ensure that Vanuatu's NAP recognises, coordinates and scales existing nature-based approaches already occurring across the country, particularly in coastal resilience and forestry. The document draws on international best practice, Pacific regional experience, national stakeholder consultations and Vanuatu's own governance, cultural and ecological context to identify practical opportunities for mainstreaming NbS into adaptation planning.
